Do priests and nuns get paid?

Religious orders are independent. The Roman Catholic Church has no responsibility to support them. Sisters, brothers and many priests take vows of poverty, and they are usually paid about half of what is made by typical secular workers.


Do priests get a free house?

There are a few perks that come with the job, but life bears little resemblance to the comforts and quietude described by Jane Austen. C of E clergy get their council tax paid for them and, the biggest perk of all, free accommodation, usually a four-bedroom house.
